Two juveniles detained for killing man, injuring his wife

Patna: Two juveniles, including the main accused, have been detained in connection with the attack on a couple in Lalbagh locality of Patna under the Pirbahore police station area that led to the death of Nawaz Alam, 30, and left his wife Sadika Sana alias Nazia seriously injured. The incident took place on Saturday morning when the couple were sleeping in their flat with their two-year-old daughter.Both were rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), where Nawaz succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His wife, who sustained injuries on her neck and arms, is undergoing treatment. Acting on the complaint, a special team was formed under the supervision of Town DSP I Rajesh Ranjan, and the statement of the injured was recorded.City superintendent of police (central) Diksha said on Sunday that based on the woman’s statement and technical evidence, police identified the main accused. “The main accused, along with his accomplice, was detained from Anshuchak village, his maternal home. The duo has been arrested for their role in the murder,” she said.Diksha said preliminary investigation revealed the main accused knew a minor girl from Nawaz’s family, as both studied in the same school. “He had tried to attract her attention on May 1 by throwing stones at their house. The girl’s father caught him and reprimanded him. When he failed to establish contact with her in recent days, he attacked the family,” she said.Police recovered the weapon used in the crime — a wooden cane fitted with a sharp knife — from bushes near the boundary wall of a Patna College hostel on the accused’s lead. A cellphone was also seized. Blue jeans and a pink T-shirt belonging to the main accused were recovered from his accomplice.The case has been registered at Pirbahore police station under sections 333, 109, 118(2) and 103(1) of the BNS. Further legal proceedings against the two juveniles are underway, the SP added.
