Triumph Motorcycles is gearing up to expand its presence in India’s highly competitive mid-capacity segment. The company is all set to debut its 350cc range on April 6. The move comes at a time when tax regulations are playing a key role in pricing strategies.

Why is Triumph launching 350cc models despite the existing 400cc lineup?

Following the GST 2.0 rollout in September 2025, motorcycles above 350cc attract a tax rate of around 40 percent. By bringing engine capacity below this threshold, Triumph’s new range will fall into the lower 18 percent tax bracket. This is expected to help the company price its bikes more competitively and take on rivals like Royal Enfield, which has a strong foothold in the 350cc space.

Triumph 350 cc models: What to expect

The upcoming motorcycles will not feature an entirely new engine. Instead, Triumph is expected to use a reworked version of its existing 398 cc platform. The engine capacity will likely be reduced to around 349 cc by decreasing the bore. This adjustment should retain the core characteristics of the motor while slightly lowering peak output. While official figures are yet to be revealed, the new engine is expected to produce around 35 hp and 32 Nm of torque. For reference, the current 399cc unit produces around 40 hp and 37.5 Nm in most models. The new 350cc lineup is expected to include familiar nameplates such as the Speed, Scrambler and Thruxton. In terms of design and hardware, these motorcycles are likely to remain largely similar to their 400 cc counterparts.
