Indian Railways announces RRB ALP CEN 01/2026 recruitment drive for 11,127 vacancies

RRB ALP CEN 01/2026 recruitment: Indian Railways has issued the indicative notification for recruitment to the post of Assistant Loco Pilot under Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 01/2026. The recruitment process will be conducted through various Railway Recruitment Boards across the country for a total of 11,127 vacancies.The online application process for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 will begin on May 15, 2026, and candidates can submit applications until June 14, 2026. Eligible candidates seeking appointment in different railway zones will be required to apply through the official application portal, rrbapply.gov.in.Recruitment details and eligibilityThe recruitment drive is being conducted for Assistant Loco Pilot posts under Pay Level-2 with an initial salary of Rs 19,900. Candidates applying for the vacancies must possess an ITI certificate or an engineering diploma in the related field.According to the notification, the minimum age required is 18 years, while the upper age limit is 30 years. Age will be calculated as on July 1, 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be applicable as per government rules after the release of the detailed notification.

The recruitment will be managed by multiple Railway Recruitment Boards, including Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Prayagraj, Ranchi and Secunderabad, among others. Zone-wise vacancy details will be announced in the detailed notification.Selection process and examination stagesThe selection process for the Assistant Loco Pilot recruitment consists of CBT-1, CBT-2, Computer Based Aptitude Test, document verification and medical examination.CBT-1 will include 75 questions carrying 75 marks with a duration of 60 minutes. Questions will be asked from Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science and General Awareness. One-third mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Minimum qualifying marks are fixed at 40 per cent for UR and EWS categories, 30 per cent for OBC and SC candidates, and 25 per cent for ST candidates.CBT-2 and aptitude test patternCBT-2 will consist of two parts with a combined duration of two hours and 30 minutes. Part-A will contain 100 questions, while Part-B will include 75 trade-related technical questions. Candidates must secure at least 35 per cent marks in Part-B.Shortlisted candidates will appear for the Computer Based Aptitude Test, where a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery is mandatory. Final merit will be prepared by giving 50 per cent weightage each to CBT-2 Part-A and CBAT scores.
