Petrol and diesel prices rise in India: What travellers can do to save money on the road

In a recent update, petrol and diesel prices in India have increased by around ₹3 per litre across the country on May 15. As per several media reports and TOI, in Delhi, petrol now costs ₹97.77 per litre, while the price of diesel has reached ₹99.67 per litre. Indian travellers are once again feeling the pressure of rising fuel prices amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes. As per several media reports, crude oil prices have increased globally because of supply linked to the Iran-US conflict which has disrupted shipping traffic through Hormuz. India is one of the biggest importers and imports nearly 89% of its crude oil needs.
