Ramayana‘ producer Namit Malhotra has praised actor Ranbir Kapoor as the finest actor of his generation. The producer shared a heartfelt note on social media, expressing full confidence in Kapoor’s ability to portray Lord Rama in the highly anticipated two-part epic, set for a Diwali release.

Namit Malhotra’s post on X went beyond professional praise. He spoke of a shared history with Kapoor that spans decades, he wrote, “From watching our fathers share meals and laughter to now, four decades later, coming together to tell one of the greatest epics of all time, it’s been quite a journey.”Reflecting on Kapoor’s personal and professional growth, Malhotra added, “I have witnessed your journey closely. The highs, the setbacks, the quiet resilience, and the way you’ve stayed so grounded through it all, both on and off screen.”On the casting decision, Malhotra left no room for ambiguity, “There is no one better to portray Lord Rama. You are, without doubt, the finest actor of our generation.”

‘Ramayana’s global ambitions

Beyond the casting, Malhotra has made it clear that ‘Ramayana’ is being built for a worldwide audience, not just Indian viewers. At the film’s teaser launch, he set out an ambitious vision for the project’s global reach.“We want to take Ramayana to the world. In 100-plus years of films, we’ve never made a mark in the West. We make 1000-plus films a year; they may see and respect our films. It’s not that our films are any less; we make outstanding films,” he said.Malhotra also pushed back against the idea of division around the project, saying, “There are Indians all over the world. We should not be divisive; that’s where we go wrong on ‘Ramayana’. There’s no division; it’s one world, one ‘Ramayana’ and one Rama.”

Cast and release date of ‘Ramayana’

The first part of ‘Ramayana’ is scheduled to release this Diwali, with post-production currently underway. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, the film features a star-studded cast including Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Ravie Dubey, among others. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the project is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Indian film productions in recent memory.
