Dhanush’s period survival drama ‘Kara’ has entered a slower phase at the box office after completing two weeks in theatres. The film opened with strong interest and generated positive discussion for its performances and historical setting. However, mixed audience reactions have affected its pace during the second week.
‘Kara’s day 14 collections witness noticeable drop
According to Sacnilk, ‘Kara’ earned Rs 64 lakhs in India on its fourteenth day. This marks a decline of nearly 21 percent from Day 13, when the film collected Rs 81 lakhs. The latest figure came from 1,385 shows across the country.With this, the film’s total India net collection has reached Rs 35.95 crore. The India gross currently stands at Rs 41.40 crore. Overseas, the film has grossed Rs 10.50 crore, taking its total worldwide gross collection to Rs 51.90 crore.
Recent day-wise box office performance of Dhanush film
The film showed stable performance earlier this week before the latest dip. On Day 12, which was the second Monday, Kara collected Rs 77 lakhs from 1,692 shows and recorded 16.6 percent occupancy. On Day 13, the second Tuesday, collections improved slightly to Rs 81 lakhs from 1,727 shows with the same 16.6 percent occupancy. Day 14, the second Wednesday, saw collections fall to Rs 64 lakhs from 1,385 shows, with occupancy dropping to 16.0 percent.
‘Kara’s occupancy remains decent in Tamil Nadu
The Tamil 2D version recorded an overall occupancy of 12.34 percent on Day 14. Morning shows began with 10.36 percent occupancy. Afternoon shows rose to 11.27 percent. Evening shows dipped to 9.45 percent. Night shows improved and closed at 12.00 percent. ‘Kara’ is set in 1991 during the Gulf War between Iraq and the United States.
