Lunar Eclipse 2026 is one of the most-awaited celestial events in the world. It happens when Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and such events have long been associated with spiritual, traditional, astrological and religious significance. While there’s a scientific explanation to every occurrence, ancient Indian beliefs and religious books attribute some deep meanings to a lunar eclipse. Among many questions that arise during this time, one commonly asked is whether travelling is considered appropriate during a lunar eclipse or not. Let’s try to find out the answers:What do ancient traditional beliefs suggest As per Hindu traditions, eclipses, be it solar or lunar, are believed to be inauspicious. It is considered that eclipse periods are caused by the celestial shadow planets Rahu and Ketu. Hindu scriptures including the Puranas also describe eclipses as times when the negative energies are on their peak and this is one of the reasons why it is advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to be indoors.
