Brampton auto theft network: Three Indian-origin residents arrested; stolen vehicles recovered

Three Canadian residents of Indian-origin have been arrested in connection with an organized auto theft ring. Brampton investigators with the Commercial Auto Crime Bureau have also recovered three stolen vehicles.Amritpal Khattra, Gurtas Bhullar and Mandeep Kaur have been arrested and charged. Police said the investigation began in December 2025 and focused on a network allegedly involved in stealing vehicles and tractor-trailers, as well as committing auto-related fraud. The probe culminated on January 8, 2026, when officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Brampton.During the search, investigators recovered three vehicles that had been reported stolen, all bearing fraudulent Ontario licence plates.Amritpal Khattra (28) faces multiple charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of possession of a counterfeit mark, failure to comply with release and probation orders, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, theft of a motor vehicle, and break and enter.

Gurtas Bhullar (33) has been charged with attempted theft of a motor vehicle, possession of break-in instruments, failure to comply with a release order, possession of property obtained by crime, theft of a motor vehicle, and break and enter.Mandeep Kaur (32) is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a counterfeit mark.Khattra and Bhullar were held in custody pending bail hearings, while Kaur was released on an undertaking with conditions. Police noted that at the time of their arrests, both Khattra and Bhullar were already subject to court-imposed release orders related to property offences.
