Black hole wakes after 100 million years and erupts like a cosmic volcano

Researchers said that “black holes are capable of spending long periods in dormancy and then suddenly turning active due to the availability of new fuel.”

A cosmic volcano: What actually happened

This volcano analogy has something to do with the way the energy gets discharged into the surroundings. Unlike lava that flows out of a volcano during an eruption, a black hole ejects high-energy jets as well as radiation.In this particular case, scientists discovered massive energy discharges, which most probably occurred after millions of years of build-up.
