Gingee election results 2026: PMK's Ganeshkumar A wins against DMK's Gingee Masthan K S

PMK’s Ganeshkumar A emerges victorious, securing 78201 votes, against DMK’s Gingee Masthan K S, by a margin of 12645 votes.The Gingee constituency witnessed a high-stakes electoral battle in the 2026 Assembly elections. The DMK re-nominated senior leader KS Masthan, seeking to capitalise on his deep local roots and ministerial record. He faced a rigorous challenge from the PMK candidate, A Ganeshkumar (AIADMK-led alliance), while the entry of B Chandrasekaran of the TVK and Sugumar AP of the NTK added a fresh layer of competition. In the 2021 election, KS Masthan (DMK) secured victory with 1,09,625 votes (53.58% vote share), defeating P Rajendiran (PMK) by a margin of 35,803 votes. In the 2016 election, KS Masthan (DMK) won with 88,440 votes (43.99% vote share), defeating AIADMK candidate A Govindasamy by 22,057 votes. Voter turnout reached 88.38%, a notable increase from the 78.45% recorded in 2021. This hike is largely attributed to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive, which significantly boosted participation among first-time voters and rural labourers through updated electoral rolls. Gingee (Assembly constituency No. 70) is a general segment in the Villuppuram district, famous for its historic fort. Its political landscape is shaped by the needs of the agricultural community and the local service sector. The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections were held in a single phase on April 23, recording a high voter turnout of 85.15%, with results declared on May 4. The polls witnessed an intense three-way contest that challenged the state’s traditional bipolar political structure. The electoral battle was primarily between the DMK-led alliance, including the INC and other parties, headed by MK Stalin and the AIADMK-led alliance, headed by Edappadi K Palaniswami, along with the BJP and other parties. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), marking actor Vijay’s political debut as a third force across all 234 constituencies.
