Tata Motors has expanded its fleet-focused portfolio with the launch of the Xpres sedan in petrol and CNG forms, bringing it head-on against the Maruti Dzire Tour S, one of the most popular choices in the commercial sedan space. While both models are aimed squarely at fleet and taxi operators, they approach the segment with slightly different strengths. Tata Xpres vs Maruti Dzire Tour S: Pricing

The Tata Xpres is positioned as an affordable fleet sedan, with prices starting at Rs 5.59 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.59 lakh for the CNG version, both ex-showroom. The Maruti Dzire Tour S, meanwhile, is priced from Rs 7.04 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to over Rs 8.00 lakh, ex-showroom. Exact prices can depend on region or dealer.

Tata Xpres vs Maruti Dzire Tour S: Engine options

The Tata Xpres petrol and CNG are powered by Tata Motors’ 1.2-litre Revotron engine paired with a manual gearbox. In petrol form, it produces 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque. The CNG version delivers lower outputs of 75.5 hp and 95 Nm.Maruti’s Dzire Tour S gets the newer 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine. In petrol form, it generates 81.58 hp and 111.7 Nm of torque, while the CNG variant produces 69.75 hp and 101.8 Nm. Both versions are offered with a manual transmission.

The Dzire Tour S comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts and three-point seatbelts for all occupants.The Tata Xpres offers dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a reverse parking camera. The CNG version also includes a leak detection system that automatically switches the car to petrol mode in case of a gas leak.

Tata Xpres vs Maruti Dzire Tour S: Boot practicality

One of the biggest talking points of the Tata Xpres CNG is its twin-cylinder CNG tank setup. This first-in-segment layout allows Tata to retain a usable boot space of 227 litres. In the petrol form, it offers 419 litres of space.In comparison, the Dzire Tour S offers a 382-litre boot in petrol form, though boot space is reduced in the CNG variant due to the conventional tank layout.
