It happens when Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and such events have long been associated with spiritual, traditional, astrological and religious significance. While there’s a scientific explanation to every occurrence, ancient Indian beliefs and religious books attribute some deep meanings to a lunar eclipse. Among many questions that arise during this time, one commonly asked is whether travelling is considered appropriate during a lunar eclipse or not. It is considered that eclipse periods are caused by the celestial shadow planets Rahu and Ketu.
