GURGAON: A case of alleged extortion involving YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT-2 winner Elvish Yadav has come to light after he and his father received threatening messages demanding Rs 10 crore from a foreign number.According to police, the threat message warned that Yadav would be shot if the money was not paid within two days.In his complaint to Sector-56 police, Yadav stated that he received a WhatsApp call from a foreign number on May 5 but could not answer it. Soon after, he received a WhatsApp message from the same number. The sender identified himself as Randeep Malik, claiming to be a close associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and demanded ₹10 crore.Police said the same threatening message was also sent to Yadav’s father on his mobile phone.Following the complaint, Sector-56 police registered a case under Sections 308(2) (extortion) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and began an investigation. The matter has now been handed over to the Crime Branch.Police said efforts are underway to trace the origin of the foreign number and identify the sender.The latest threat comes months after armed attackers opened fire outside Yadav’s residence on Aug 17, 2025. Around two dozen rounds were fired by unidentified men who arrived on three motorcycles.In that case, Sector-56 police had registered a case under Sections 109(1), 3(5) and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.During the investigation, Crime Branch Faridabad arrested Ishant in connection with the firing incident. Later, on Aug 23, 2025, Crime Branch Sector-40 arrested Jatin (24), a resident of Parvatiya Colony in Faridabad, from Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. Two other accused, Gaurav and Aditya, both residents of Faridabad, were arrested by Delhi Police’s Special Cell in Rohini.
