Young Trump official breaks silence on 'sugar daddy' scandal, says it's just a relationship turned sour

Julia Varvaro addresses the ‘sugar daddy’ controversy and said she did nothing wrong.

29-year-old Julia Varvaro, a deputy assistant secretary for counterterrorism of the Department of Homeland Security broke her silence on the viral ‘sugar daddy’ scandal centering her. Robert B, a man who is decades older than Varvaro, complained that he spent $40,000 on her to maintain her high lifestyle. The complaint came straight to the DHS where Robert B wrote that he did not want to be a sugar daddy. The Daily Mail reported that Varvaro had been looking for older men on dating app to fund her luxury lifestyle. The report said she has a profile on Seeking.com under the name Alessia where she described herself as someone working for a government agency and offering “seductive sophistication”.Robert B said Varvaro ended the relationship when Robert refused to spend more on her. Robert said they had their first date at the DC outpost of Minetta Tavern where he spend $1400 and got a kiss in return. They spent the Martin Luther King Jr holiday weekend together in Aruba; in February the couple went to Italy and Switzerland and splurged a lot. After coming back, Varvaro pressured him to send $2000 to cover half of her rent because of the DHS shutdown.“She also told me directly that the $40,000 worth of jewelry on her wrists and ears are all trophies from her sugar daddies,” his complaint continued. “I believe that she’s under financial stress and that her actions pose a security risk.”Varvaro reacted to the scandal and said she did nothing wrong. “We were together in an exclusive relationship. We went on vacations. I don’t know what’s the problem with that,” Varvaro told the Daily Mail. “I did nothing wrong. This is just a mad ex-boyfriend putting crap together. And it’s just really weird.”“If we made a story about every failed short relationship in DC, this town would implode. I thought it was a great relationship until we just didn’t work, and that was it,” Varvaro said.
