NEW DELHI: Ten days after ED carried out searches at several premises in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai on officials of I-PAC, a political consultancy firm whose clients include Trinamool and DMK, the agency on Monday arrested one of its directors and co-founder, Vinesh Chandel. He will be produced before a special court in Delhi for custodial interrogation. Chandel’s arrest is in connection with ED’s ongoing investigation against I-PAC in a money-laundering case linked to an alleged coal scam in the poll-bound West Bengal. On April 2, EC had searched the premises of Vijay Nair, ex-communication advisor of AAP and one of the accused in the Delhi liquor scam. Sources said Vijay Nair’s dealings with I-PAC are under probe and certain transactions are being probed with regards to payments made to the political consultancy firm in the past.
