The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has released notifications regarding the Higher Secondary (12th) examinations for the year 2026. The notified exam date sheet is a scheduled plan for Semester 4 and Semester 3 exam supplements, which will take place from February 12th to February 27th in 2026.The WBCHSE has made a few minor changes that are student-friendly in the exam for the 2026 exams. Candidates will be given extra time, i.e., 10 minutes, to read the question paper and also to provide their details in the answer script. The examination for the semester-4 exams will begin at 9:50 AM, while the semester-3 supplementary exams will begin at 1:00 PM.

Admit cards and examination attendances

The admit cards for the students of the WB HS exams in 2026 are to be collected on January 28, 2026. It is essential that the students collect their admit cards from their respective schools. It is a must that students carry their admit cards on all examination days. No student is allowed to appear in the exams without the admit card. No student will be allowed to sit for the exams without it.

Sanskrit exam flexibility

In the Sanskrit examination, the WBCHSE has introduced a flexible option for students. For Part 2 short answer questions, including prose, verse, and visual poetry—of both the second and fourth semesters, question number two can be answered in Sanskrit, Bangla, or English. This change is aimed at making the exam more accessible for students.

Textbooks Available from January 22

The board has also announced the release of textbooks for Semester II. The Bengali versions of Business Mathematics and Business Statistics (BMBS) and Basic Mathematics for Social Sciences (BMSS) will be available at the Book Mart of Vidyasagar Bhavan starting January 22, 2026. Students are advised to regularly check the Notification Section of WBCHSE’s official YouTube channel for updates on book releases.

Exam timings and procedures

WBCHSE has provided detailed instructions regarding exam-day reporting and procedures. The key timelines are:Semester IV H.S. Exam:

  • Examinees must report by 9:00 am.
  • Question packets will be opened and distributed at 9:30 am.
  • Blank answer scripts or OMR sheets will be given to students at 10:00 am.

Semester III Supplementary Exam:

  • Examinees must report by 12:30 pm.
  • Question packets will be opened at 12:40 pm.
  • Distribution of answer scripts will start at 1:00 pm.
