Premallatha Vijayakant of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam won the Vriddhachalam constituency with a margin of 2387 votes. She garnered 69351 votes, while Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate Vijay.S came second with 66964 votes.Vriddhachalam Assembly constituency in Cuddalore district is a significant seat, notably once represented by DMDK founder Vijayakant. It is known for its diverse electoral history involving various parties. In the 2021 Assembly elections, INC’s R. Radhakrishnan won the seat with 77,064 votes, defeating PMK’s J. Karthikeyan, who secured 76,202 votes. The margin of victory was extremely slim at 862 votes. In the 2016 Assembly elections, AIADMK’s V. T. Kalaiselvan won the seat with 72,611 votes, defeating DMK’s P. Govindasamy, who secured 58,834 votes. The margin of victory stood at 13,777 votes. In the 2011 Assembly elections, DMDK’s V. Muthukumar secured 72,902 votes, defeating INC candidate T. Neethirajan, who received 59,261 votes. The margin of victory was 13,641 votes.
