Vaishakha Amavasya 2026: Significance

Vaishakha Amavasya is one of the most significant days in Hinduism. The day dedicated to worship ancestors and on this specific day, people perform various religious and spiritual activities for the salvation of their forefathers. This is an extremely powerful day to appease them and also people worship trinity God by worshipping peepal tree. It is believed that Trinity god (Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma) resides in the Peepal tree. The day is also considered sacred for the spiritual cleansing and seeking the divine blessings.

Vaishakha Amavasya 2026: Puja Rituals

1. Wake up before sunrise and take a holy bath.2. Offer water to Lord Surya as it is considered meritorious. 3. Worship peepal tree by offering water and you must add black sesame seeds and urad daal during Mdhyahna time (after 11:30 PM) to seek blessings of ancestors and if you want to seek blessings of Trinity God then you must offer this water before 11:30 PM. 4. You should light a mustard oil diya beneath the peepal tree. It is believed that lighting diya under peepal tree removes all the negative energies and reduce the bad effect of Saturn. 5. One must invite the brahmin at home and feed them, give them clothes and dakshina. 6. Charity is considered highly rewarding so one must get engaged in that activity to reduce karmic debts. 7. People are advised to feed cows, dogs, crows and ants on this specific day to seek blessings of the ancestors. Vaishakha Amavasya or New Moon day is considered as an extremely powerful day to perform various religious and spiritual activities. The day gives an opportunity to the people for inner transformation and they can also seek protection from their ancestors.
