UGC NET June 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the online application portal for UGC NET June 2026 examination. The registration process commenced on April 29, 2026, as per the public notice issued by the agency.UGC NET is conducted to determine eligibility of Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowship, appointment as Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes in universities and colleges across India. The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 85 subjects.Important dates for UGC NET June 2026

Application process and eligibility criteriaCandidates are required to apply through online mode only on the official NTA website. Submission of application forms through any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application per candidate is permitted.Applicants must carefully follow the instructions provided in the information bulletin available on the official portal. Failure to comply with the prescribed guidelines may lead to disqualification.The examination serves three purposes: award of Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor eligibility, eligibility for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD, and admission to PhD only.Application fee and key instructionsThe application fee is set at Rs. 1150 for General category candidates, Rs. 600 for General-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates, and Rs. 325 for SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender applicants.Candidates are advised to provide a valid email address and mobile number, as all communication from NTA will be sent through registered contact details. The agency has also enabled registration through the single sign-on service Meri Pehchan to simplify the application process.Applicants are encouraged to use Aadhaar verification to facilitate smoother registration and examination procedures. No changes in application details will be permitted after final submission.Examination details and supportThe examination will be conducted across multiple centres, with details regarding date, shift, and venue to be mentioned on the admit card. Information on recorded responses and answer keys will be released later on the official website.In case of difficulties during the application process, candidates may contact NTA through the helpline numbers or email provided in the official notice.
