British Airways cancels UK–Abu Dhabi flights until later this year amid Middle East airspace instability

In a significant update, British Airways has announced several important flight cancellations between the Middle East and the United Kingdom given the ongoing regional disruptions and airspace instability. The airline has temporarily stopped many flight operations on affected routes. In its latest update on 10 March at 14:00 GMT, the airline confirmed that it has cancelled all flights to and from several major Middle Eastern airports, including Dubai, Doha, Amman, Bahrain, and Tel Aviv until later this month. Not only this, flights between the UK and Abu Dhabi will remain suspended for an even longer period, probably lasting until later this year.The reason behind is ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East. The airspace conditions remain unstable and airlines are prioritizing passengers safety. Many carriers have been forced to review routes and reduce services across sensitive corridors.

Amid ongoing disruptions, Oman has become a major travel gateway for passengers currently stranded in the region. British Airways has scheduled special repatriation flights from Muscat to London’s Heathrow Airport. These have limited number of seats for existing bookings. Earlier updates from the British Airways mentioned that additional flights from Muscat were scheduled to depart at 02:30 local time on March 9, 10, 11, and 12, for those in Oman or the United Arab Emirates (those with confirmed bookings).

However, travellers need to reach Muscat on their own. British Airways advised that customers who believe they can safely travel to Oman should contact the airline’s dedicated assistance line to secure seats on the remaining services. The airline in it’s advisory also mentioned its teams are actively contacting affected passengers via email and providing options such as rebooking, refunds, or alternative travel arrangements.
