'To Smriti Mandhana': Here's how Virat Kohli inspired RCB’s 2026 WPL triumph

Virat Kohli played a behind-the-scenes role in inspiring Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women ahead of their title-winning WPL final and later joined in celebrating the historic achievement. After RCB Women chased down a record 204-run target to defeat Delhi Capitals and lift their second WPL trophy, Kohli congratulated the team with a heartfelt Instagram post praising their effort and leadership.

“Champions again. Keeping the RCB flag flying high is something that each one of you can be proud of. To Smriti Mandhana and the whole squad and the management team, a big congratulations on this tremendous victory. You guys deserve this undoubtedly. Enjoy the moment and embrace the love of our amazing fans,” he wrote.The franchise also released a motivational video message from Kohli that was played to the team on the eve of the final. In the clip, the former India captain urged the players to soak in the occasion and treat the final as a moment to be cherished.“I wouldn’t call it just another day or just another game, because that’s what we play sport for: the big finals, the big occasions, winning trophies,” Kohli said.Kohli praised the team’s consistency throughout the season and their ability to handle pressure, pointing out that finishing top of the table and reaching the final first was no accident.“I’ve been watching you guys play this season, and it’s been amazing to see the high-pressure games that we’ve won. It’s no surprise to me that we were the first ones to make it to the finals, finishing top of the table,” he said.He also highlighted the importance of learning from mid-season setbacks and urged total commitment in decisive moments.“Small things make all the difference at the very end… That’s what’s going to count at the end of the day,” Kohli said.Inspired by the message, RCB Women delivered a composed performance to win the WPL final by six wickets, sealing a landmark triumph for the franchise.
