The love of pearls (Sequel to Love by the Indus)

‘Anyone’ and ‘anything’ touched by the divine cannot remain untouched by LOVE!

To love and be loved is the deepest desire of the one who breathes, and even the one who remains still, else why would the sun pour its radiance over the moon through lifetimes!

“What is love?” Saloni, a beautiful girl with golden hair, asked inquisitively.

“I’m naive to answer that,” I said hesitantly.

A question asked in sheer innocence triggered a quest in me. I earnestly searched for the answer inside the deepest corners of my soul and found two gleaming pearls!

Dive into the story…….

Long, long ago, an oyster harboured two milky pearls inside its rocky shell.

The pearls soaked in each other’s ethereal glow for years, until the cruel waves of the ocean hurled them into the far edges.

They must have wailed from the pain of separation, but who would listen to their grief?

For years, they drifted in the massive salty waters. Some days rubbing over rocks, other days pebbles—every time losing a part of themselves in their pursuit of ‘belonging’.

Decades passed. They silently longed for each other in oblivion, until one stormy afternoon, when the clouds cried and the ocean raged, flinging the pearls onto the shore.

All orchestrated by fate.

The pearls lay on the damp sand, gazing at each other, perhaps falling in love all over again!

Time had erased their memory, but neither the bygone years nor their sufferings could fade the divinity of the milky glow they once shared in the oyster’s womb.

The waves calmed and changed their rhythm, singing a serenade for the enchanting reunion.

Just then, a fisherman walked on the shore, preparing for his next hunt.
As he moved towards his boat, his foot pressed against something hard.

He rummaged through the damp sand and his fingers felt the tiny moons resting in each other’s arms.

He picked them as a gift from God and wove them into a slender branch, a humble necklace for his wife.

Transcending the sorrowful ordeals, the LOVERS met, forever embracing each other.

What is yours finds its way back to you, as inevitably as your own breath.

Perhaps, LOVE is a promise to walk with your beloved across many lifetimes.

Your eyes well and your heart tells!

*************

“Have I written enough about love?” you ask.

“I’m still too naive,” I say.
