CHENNAI: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss has launched a blistering attack on chief minister M K Stalin, accusing him of committing a “historic betrayal” against women by orchestrating the defeat in Lok Sabha of a Constitution Amendment Bill for 33% women’s reservation. In a statement that drew sharp parallels between the chief minister and historical dictators, Anbumani alleged that DMK’s opposition to the Constitution Amendment Bill stems from a deep rooted “anti-women” and “anti-social justice” mindset. Anbumani expressed shock over reports of DMK cadres celebrating the Bill’s failure with firecrackers and sweets.“History shows that Hitler enjoyed the mass execution of millions of Jews. Stalin’s modern-day sadism is no different. Celebrating the denial of power to women is a black chapter in our history,” he remarked.Anbumani accused DMK and Congress of having “Anti-Social Justice DNA.” He alleged that the two parties had repeatedly sabotaged women’s reservation efforts. He specifically criticised the 40 MPs from the DMK-led alliance, including five women members, for voting against the constitutional amendment. “By toppling this Bill, Stalin has ensured that women remain confined to the kitchen rather than the corridors of power,” he added. He predicted that the women of Tamil Nadu would not forgive this “betrayal.” He asserted that DMK would face a resounding defeat in the upcoming assembly election as a direct consequence of blocking the Bill. “Stalin will find his name only in the black pages of history as a traitor to women’s empowerment. The mothers and sisters of this state will deliver their verdict at the polling booths,” he warned.
