Sunny Deol’s ‘Border 2’ has launched strongly, grossing Rs 41 crore worldwide on its opening day. While a significant start, it narrowly missed surpassing ‘Dhurandhar’s’ Day 1 global record of Rs 41.5 crore. ‘Dhurandhar,’ starring Ranveer Singh, continues its historic box office run, nearing Rs 831 crore in India and USD 21 million in North America, showcasing remarkable audience retention.

Sunny Deol- Anurag Singh’s Border 2 has begun its theatrical journey on a strong note both in India and overseas, but the film narrowly missed rewriting the worldwide Day 1 record set last year by Dhurandhar, headlined by Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar. While the numbers signal a healthy start for the war drama, the Day 1 global championship remains with Dhurandhar though just by a sliver.According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, Border 2 posted a Rs 30 crore nett / Rs 36 crore gross on its opening day in India. Overseas markets contributed an estimated Rs 5 crore, bringing the film’s Day 1 worldwide gross to Rs 41 crore.Sunny Deol hasn’t been an overseas star no mattr how bigs his films were. And with that the film missed out on surpassing Dhurandhar’s opening day global tally. Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster had collected approximately 850K USD (around Rs 7.7 crore) from international territories on Day 1, alongside a Rs 27 crore nett / Rs 32.40 crore gross India opening. That took its global Day 1 tally to approximately ₹41.5 crore, allowing Dhurandhar to maintain a narrow lead at the top of the charts.

The film shocked the trade by growing over its next two weekends, fuelled by cross-demographic word-of-mouth and international carryover. Nearly seven weeks post-release, it continues to play theatrically in key circuits, completing the biggest Hindi run in modern box office history. In North America the film is inching towards USD 21 million mark and in India it has collected Rs 831 crore in 50 days. As Border 2 hit the theaters, Dhurandhar for the first time saw its collection fall below Rs 1 crore mark. For all previous 49 days the film earned more than Rs 1 crore- no other film in history has been able to hold on to its numbers with this ferocity. As for Border 2, the film explores the 1971 Indo-Pak conflict and features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty.
