Student injured in Bettiah school blast
A Class VIII student in Bettiah suffered injuries, including minor hearing issues, after a powerful firecracker-like substance exploded in a school washroom. Preliminary investigations suggest the student combined multiple high-magnitude firecrackers. Authorities are probing how the explosive material was obtained and if the school administration had any oversight lapses. The student’s condition is stable.

Bettiah: A Class VIII student was injured in a blast inside the washroom of a private school in Bettiah town of West Champaran district on Saturday morning, police said.The injured student was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Bettiah, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors said the impact of the explosion caused minor hearing issues, though his condition is stable.According to police, the explosion was caused by a firecracker-like substance. Bettiah Sadar SDPO Vivek Deep said preliminary investigation revealed that a minor student had combined three high-magnitude firecrackers and placed them inside the washroom.“When he lit the device, it led to a loud explosion, and he himself got injured in the incident,” the officer said.The incident came to light after the victim’s family informed the police by calling Dial 112. Following this, SDPO Vivek Deep, along with a team from Muffasil police station and forensic experts, reached the spot and began an investigation.Initial findings by the forensic team suggest that the material used in the blast was larger and more powerful than regular firecrackers.Police said a probe is underway to ascertain how the student procured the explosive material and if there was any lapse on the part of the school administration.
