In a move that directly passes on the benefits of the India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to buyers, Jaguar Land Rover India has announced a sharp price revision for its flagship Range Rover models brought in as Completely Built Units (CBUs) from the UK. The biggest highlight is a massive Rs 75 lakh reduction on the Range Rover SV, while the sportier Range Rover Sport SV also sees a significant cut.
Range Rover CBU models price cut: Details
The Range Rover SV now starts at Rs 3.50 crore, ex-showroom, down from Rs 4.25 crore, making it Rs 75 lakh more affordable than before. Meanwhile, the Range Rover Sport SV has been repriced from Rs 2.75 crore to Rs 2.35 crore, translating to a Rs 40 lakh reduction. The updated pricing is effective immediately.The FTA, which was signed last year, is expected to gradually reduce import duties on UK-built cars from over 100 percent to as low as 10 percent over a five-year period, significantly benefiting high-end CBUs. This has allowed luxury carmakers like JLR to reposition their flagship offerings more competitively in the Indian market.
Beyond pricing, the Range Rover SV also gains additional value with the inclusion of SV Ultra Metallic paint options in both gloss and satin finishes as standard. These were previously optional. Under the hood, the Range Rover SV is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine sourced from BMW. This unit produces around 615 hp and 750 Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, sending power to all four wheels via an all-wheel-drive system.
Range Rover Sport SV.
The Range Rover Sport SV, on the other hand, uses a more performance-focused version of the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. It produces up to 635 hp and 750 Nm of torque, also mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive setup. It’s important to note that the benefits of the FTA-driven price revision are limited to UK-built CBU models. Locally assembled offerings such as the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar and Discovery Sport will continue at their existing price points. Additionally, the Defender and Discovery models remain unaffected, as they are manufactured in Slovakia and do not fall under the scope of the India–UK trade agreement.
