Rakul Preet Singh makes Jackky Bhagnani apologise, hold his ears over ‘situationship marriage’ remark: 'Gen Z banne ki zarurat nahi hai'

Rakul Preet Singh has found a humorous way to address the ongoing chatter around husband Jackky Bhagnani’s “situationship” remark. After the internet latched on to a comment from their recent interview, the actress shared a playful video that shows her pulling Jackky up—making him hold his ears in mock apology.Taking to Instagram Stories, Rakul shared a candid moment with Jackky, where she is seen teasing him for his now-viral statement. “Kitne baar bola hai isko, that we are millennials… Gen Z banne ki zarurat nahi hain! Bola tha na (I have told you so many times that we are millennials, and there is no need to be Gen Z. Didn’t I)?” she says.Standing beside her, Jackky holds his ears and smiles, apologising playfully. As Rakul says, “Kar diya na tumne (See what has happened now)?,” Jackky adds with a smile, “Haa magar maine aise nahi bola tha (But I had not intended it in that way)!”Rakul, however, keeps the banter going, replying, “I know, but the world needs to know! But theek hai (it is okay), considering that you guys are not stopping, we thought, let us also have a laugh about it!”She captioned the clip, “Ho gaya aap log ka bhi ab… laugh about it and move on.”

‘Context matters’: Rakul calls out headline culture

A day before sharing the video, Rakul had addressed the situation more seriously, reacting to how a single line from a longer conversation became the focal point online.“We had a great laugh today about how one line from an hour-long conversation can suddenly become the headline. Funny… until it’s not. Context matters. Nuance matters. Conversations deserve better than being reduced to clickbait. Maybe it’s time platforms take a little more responsibility for the narratives they create,” she wrote on Instagram Stories.

What sparked the ‘situationship’ buzz

The chatter began after Jackky, while speaking about their bond in a recent interview, said, “Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship, which is, of course, we are exclusive to each other because that’s why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything.”While he meant it in a light-hearted way, the term “situationship” quickly caught attention online, sparking debate and memes.

Their love story

Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani dated for three years before tying the knot on February 21, 2024, in Goa. The couple opted for an intimate destination wedding, with two ceremonies—an Anand Karaj (Sikh) in the afternoon followed by a Sindhi wedding in the evening—attended by close friends and family.
