Riteish Deshmukh, mostly known in Bollywood for his comedy roles, has delivered an epic historical drama with ‘Raja Shivaji.’ Directed and lead by Deshmukh, the movie chronicles the valour of the Maratha warrior. Released in Marathi and Hindi, the film delivered a record-breaking opening at the box office on Friday in the former language and showed a decent number in the latter. According to Sacnilk, the multistarrer historical drama earned Rs 7.15 crore on its second day, Saturday, across 1980 shows. This comes after the impress Rs 8 crore opening on Friday, which made the movie top the list of highest debut collections for a Marathi film. With the strong occupancy of 57 per cent on day 2, the tally of Marathi collection has been pushed to Rs 15.15 crore so far.

In a addition to the Marathi box office number, the collection from Hindi version hasn’t been bad either. On day 1, the Hindi version of ‘Raja Shivaji’ earned Rs 3.35 crore, pushing the total haul to Rs 11.35 crore. On day 2, the movie made Rs 3.40 crore in Hindi, taking the overall tally to Rs. 10.55 crore. Here, one can notice a drop of 7 per cent.
