Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Yashpal Meena on Thursday fixed May 30 as the deadline for completion of all road restoration and pipeline-related works in the municipal area.In a review meeting, Meena directed engineers to camp at project sites and operate in two shifts to ensure timely completion. He said no new project should be started if it cannot be completed by the deadline. Excavated stretches must be immediately refilled and restored, while proper barricading and display boards must be installed at all sites.The commissioner warned that an FIR would be lodged against contractors and engineers in case negligence leads to loss of life or property during the monsoon season.He said the Road Construction Department would carry out quality inspections of road works, while the Public Health Engineering Department would review water supply and pipeline projects. Officials have been instructed to formally request these departments to begin checks.Meena also issued notices to an executive engineer, an assistant engineer and six junior engineers over delays in projects and ordered withholding of their salaries until further notice.According to PMC data, in the water supply division, 60 out of 120 projects are under way, 28 have been completed, 10 are at work order stage, 18 at letter of acceptance stage and one is under agreement.
