Piyush Mishra talks about Anurag Kashyap, saying, 'zabardast virodh hai usse'; shares his rocky equation with Naseeruddin Shah
In a recent interview, Piyush Mishra didn’t hold back his opinions, expressing a clear preference for Imtiaz Ali over Anurag Kashyap, whom he described as often sabotaging his own projects. While their collaboration on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ was fruitful, Mishra shared that he and Kashyap rarely communicated during the process. Read the full article to know more in detail.

Veteran actor and singer Piyush Mishra has never been known to mince his words, and his latest interview is proof of that. The veteran actor opened up about his complicated off-screen relationship with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. He also shed light on his equation with actor Naseeruddin Shah.

Piyush Mishra picks Imtiaz Ali over Anurag Kashyap

In a candid conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, when asked to choose between Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap as a creative collaborator, Piyush Mishra did not take even a moment to think. He said, “Imtiaz Ali, any day. He is a great director and writes amazing scripts. I feel immense satisfaction after working with him.” His next words about Kashyap, however, were far more layered.Piyush Mishra said, “Anurag also does it, but… How shall I define Anurag Kashyap for you? Why does he talk so much? He does wrong to himself unnecessarily. You should either do good to yourself or the other person, but he doesn’t even think of himself. That’s his problem.”In the same conversation, Piyush acknowledged that he and Kashyap, who collaborated on the cult classic ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2012), share a functional and productive working relationship. He said, “If you are going against something, then there should at least give results. The main thing is that he knows he won’t get any result; he still speaks a lot.”He went on to add, “Mujhe zabardast virodh hai usse (I have a big issue with that). We barely communicate; I can’t talk to him for a longer period, and neither can he. We don’t talk, only shoot for films. But we work well together; we both know what we want. He also used to abuse me earlier, but only I do it now.”

Piyush Mishra talks about Naseeruddin Shah

During the interview, Piyush Mishra also spoke about his strained equation with Naseeruddin Shah, leaving little room for ambiguity.“I don’t have good relations with Naseer. Neither do I like him, nor he likes me. And, if both the parties don’t like each other, then it becomes an ideal stage to not talk, because you both know that you don’t like each other, so there’s just no need to talk,” he said.On the work front, Piyush Mishra is currently touring with his band ‘Ballimaaraan’ for the ‘Aarambh 2.0 India tour’. His upcoming projects included ‘The Saga of Rashtriya Rifles’ and ‘Lollypop Since 1947’.
