Lucknow: More than 1,500 residents turned up for the ‘Green Run’ event organised by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Sunday, reflecting a growing enthusiasm for fitness and environmental awareness in the city.The 3.5-km fun race, flagged off at 6.00am, was held along the Green Corridor between Jhulelal Vatika and New Daliganj Bridge.Registrations were open for five days, drawing participants across age groups, including couples. Pre-run activities included yoga and zumba sessions, while music and dance kept the crowd engaged. Hydration points were set up along the route, and police personnel along with a medical team and ambulance were deployed for safety.Winners were declared across four categories. In the 18-30 age group, Sumit finished first, followed by Ramesh and Sunil. Ajay topped the 30-50 category, with Mayank Awasthi second and Raghavendra third.In the 50-plus category, Aadesh secured first place, followed by Aditya and Ajay Kumar Tandon. In the couple’s category, Satyam and Sneha emerged winners, while Shreyash and Sneha and Dhruv and Chandra finished second and third respectively.LDA vice-chairperson (VC) Prathamesh Kumar and secretary Vivek Srivastava felicitated the winners. All participants received T-shirts and medals.LDA VC said, “The Green Run was organised to promote fitness and environmental protection, which saw great participation from the residents. The fitness activities will encourage residents to stay healthy and active. Seeing the turnout we will plan more such initiatives in the future.”
