'Neither a good son, nor a good student': BTech student ends life in UP, leaves apology note for parents

GORAKHPUR: A 23-year-old BTech student from Aligarh ended his life in his hostel room in Gorakhpur’s Ramgarhtal area, leaving behind a note in which he apologised to his parents for “neither being a good son, nor a good student”.The third-year BTech student of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University was residing alone at a private Boys Hostel in the Indiranagar locality under the Ramgarhtal police station limits.According to police, when the student did not step out of his room till morning on Thursday, the hostel warden tried to contact him but received no response, after which he informed Ramgarhtal police. The roomdoor was broken open and the student’s body was found hanging from the ceiling. A forensic team reached the spot and carried out an investigation before the body was sent for post mortem.Police recovered from the room a one-page suicide note in which he had written, “I could neither become a good son nor a good student. Mom and Dad, please forgive me. I could not live up to your expectations. I will return as your son in our next birth and fulfil your dreams.” Ramgarhtal SHO Atul Srivastava said the student’s family in Aligarh had been informed.
