Molly Ringwald recalls most memorable moment from ‘Pretty in Pink’ set: ‘I had to do my finals on set’

Molly Ringwald is looking back on her younger days as an actress with awe. Oftentimes, many young stars have to balance acting with their everyday life and studies. From managing projects to studying and taking exams on time, there is a lot to do. While looking back at her career as a young actress, Ringwald recalled a similar experience and how she managed to power through everything while filming for ‘Pretty in Pink.’

‘Pretty in Pink’ is a much-loved cult classic still talked about today. However, much more was going on behind the scenes to ensure the film was a huge success. While attending the opening night of ‘Beaches’ on Broadway, Ringwald recalled taking one of her exams while filming one of her most famous movies.‘Pretty in Pink’ was released in 1986 and was a big hit. Along with Ringwald, it also starred Andrew McCarthy, Harry Dean Stanton, Annie Potts and James Spader.The 58-year-old added, “It was such a long time ago. It almost seems like a different life. I had to do my finals on set for my high school algebra test. . . So I think that’s what I remember the most.” She cited this as one of the most memorable moments from the film set, along with celebrating her best friend Matt’s birthday.Talking about the moment, she added that “[Matt] celebrated his 18th birthday on that set, and I have a picture of him blowing out the candles.” She revealed that he was the inspiration for the character Philip F. “Duckie” Dale from ‘Pretty in Pink,’ and that the two have been friends since they studied together in 6th grade.“He’s the godfather of my elder daughter, and I’m the godmother of his kid. And yeah, we’ve been friends forever,” ‘The Breakfast Club’ star concluded. Ringwald has three kids: Mathilda Ereni, who is 22, and her twins Adele Georgiana and Roman Stylianos, who are 16.
