BULANDSHAHR: An 18-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district has come forward to report five years of repeated sexual assault by her father. The survivor also alleged that a village head (gram pradhan), whom she had approached in a desperate plea for help, also violated her.The survivor’s ordeal came to light on Monday morning when she walked alone into a local police station to hand-deliver a written complaint to SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh. The victim, who has lived alone with her father — a property dealer — since her mother left the family years ago, stated that the abuse began when she was a minor. According to the FIR, her father repeatedly raped her at night, recorded obscene videos to blackmail her, and threatened to kill her if she spoke out.The girl’s attempt to seek help from within her family was met with indifference. When she confided in her elder brother, who lives abroad, he dismissed her claims as “unimportant” and labeled her “immature.”Left with no family support, the survivor approached the local gram pradhan four months ago, hoping for intervention. Instead of providing protection, the village head allegedly used the opportunity to sexually assault her, the complaint stated.SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh confirmed that an FIR has been registered at the Women’s police station under various IPC sections, including 376 (rape), 354 (assault to outrage modesty), and 506 (criminal intimidation).“The traumatised survivor has been sent for a medical examination and is receiving counseling. Her statement is being recorded and investigation is underway,” SSP said. The survivor has since moved out of her father’s house and is currently staying with a relative. Police are now working to apprehend the father and the village head.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
