DSP Bharathan is the cop chasing Karasaami, and the film smartly resists making him a loathsome figure. He needs to catch Kara not because justice demands it, but because he wants to be famous. Kandhasaami, Karasaami’s father, holds the emotional core in his brief screen time with very little fuss.
