Jharkhand Weather Alert: Rain and Thunderstorms to Bring Relief from Heatwave

Ranchi: Following days of heatwave conditions, residents are likely to experience some relief from Monday with the Met office on Sunday predicting that the entire state is likely to get rain and thunderstorm.The Ranchi weather office issued a yellow alert of rain, thunderstorm and lightning for 11 districts and an orange alert for the remaining 13 districts, on Monday.“Hailstorm accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speeds up to 50-60 kmph are likely at isolated places over northeastern and central parts of the state on Monday. A yellow warning has been issued for Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Simdega, West and East Singhbhum districts for Monday. An orange alert has been also issued for Ranchi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Sahibganj and Pakur districts on Monday,” deputy director of the Ranchi IMD centre, Abhishek Anand, said.Anand added that maximum temperatures across the state are likely to decrease by 3-5C till Thursday. “Light to moderate rain at isolated places across the state will bring respite from the rising temperature till Wednesday,” he said.Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds up to 50-60 kmph are likely to occur at isolated places over the southern and central parts of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds up to 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at isolated places across the state from Thursday to Saturday, the bulletin issued by the IMD read.Ranchi on Sunday recorded 40.2C maximum temperature, Jamshedpur 37.5C,Bokaro 39.1C, Chaibasa 42.4C, and Daltonganj 44.9C, the highest in state.
