Jeff Bezos secretly selling $500 million superyacht that has sculpture of Lauren Sanchez as mermaid because...

Jeff Bezos wants to sell his prized possession ‘Koru’, a 417-foot superyacht which has a wooden sculpture of Lauren Sanchez as a mermaid.

Jeff Bezos is silently putting his $500 million superyacht, Koru, which is one of the largest sailing yacht in the world, on sale as it is too big, Page Six reported. The superyacht even has a wooden sculpture modeled after Lauren Sanchez, then-girlfriend, now-wife, on the prow. The superyacht has a $75 million support ship, Abeona, though the report could not confirm whether Abeona is also part of the deal. It costs $30 million per year to operate the two ships together.Koru in Māori means loop or coil, and is based on the spiral shape of an unfurling silver fern frond, as a necklace — a symbol that is special to the couple as Bezos cited before on his Instagram that Koru symbolizes new beginnings.Koru, the 417-foot vessel, is only the second in size in the world, as David Geffen’s Rising Sun is slightly bigger at 453 feet. In 2025, Koru was denied a mooring in Monaco due to its huge size. Even the yacht did not get anywhere near the lagoon where Bezos and Sanchez got married in Venice. The couple threw a separate foam party on board the yacht during the festivities.

Built in Netherlands, Bezos yacht known for troubles

In 2022, when Koru was to be delivered to Bezos, there were plans to dismantle a 95-year-old bridge called De Hef so the enormous vessel could pass. After protests from locals, the masts were taken off.In 2023, the New York Times reported that Koru was too large to dock in the Florida Everglades, instead hanging out around far less glamorous oil tankers and container ships. The superyacht has three towering masts, several decks, including one with a pool.Koru, however, has been part of the couple’s world tour as they sailed all over the world on Koru and partied with celebrity pals like Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Usher and more.
