NEW DELHI: Who would have thought even 264 wouldn’t be enough in a T20? But that’s exactly what unfolded as Punjab Kings pulled off the highest successful run chase in IPL history, defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in their IPL 2026 clash on Saturday.After Delhi Capitals piled up a staggering 264/2 in 20 overs – powered by KL Rahul’s sensational 152* off 67 balls- it still wasn’t enough. What followed was pure carnage, as Punjab Kings turned the improbable into reality.Chasing the record total, local lad Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh came out all guns blazing. The duo tore into the bowlers, racing to 116/0 in just six overs and laying the perfect platform for the chase.Once Prabhsimran (76 off 26) and Priyansh (43 off 17) departed, captain Shreyas Iyer took centre stage. Leading from the front, he hammered an unbeaten 71 off 36 balls to steer Punjab Kings home in style.PBKS chased down the mammoth target with seven balls to spare, scripting a historic win. In the process, they broke their own record for the highest successful run chase in IPL history, having previously hunted down 261 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024.
