IAF begins offline application process for Group C civilian recruitment under Advt No 01/2026

IAF recruitment 2026: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has issued a notification inviting applications for 47 Group ‘C’ civilian posts, including Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Hindi Typist, and Civilian Mechanical Transport Driver. The recruitment process is being conducted under Advertisement No. 01/2026, with applications accepted through offline mode.The application window has opened from May 2, 2026. Candidates are required to submit completed forms by post to the respective Air Force Stations or Units. The last date for receipt of applications is 30 days from the publication date of the notification.Vacancy distribution across commandsThe recruitment covers multiple Air Force commands, including Maintenance, Training, Central, Western, Eastern, South Western, and Southern Air Commands, along with Independent Units. Out of 47 vacancies, 37 posts are for LDC, 10 for Hindi Typist, and 3 for Civilian Mechanical Transport Driver.For LDC posts, the highest number of vacancies is under HQ Maintenance Command with 13 positions, followed by Independent Units with 7 posts. Hindi Typist vacancies are spread across six commands, while driver posts are limited to three commands.

Eligibility criteria and qualificationsCandidates applying for LDC and Hindi Typist posts must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board and possess typing skills of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi. For driver posts, applicants must have passed matriculation, hold a valid licence for light and heavy vehicles, and have at least two years of driving experience along with knowledge of motor mechanisms.Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories, including OBC, SC/ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen, and departmental candidates, as per government norms.Application process and submission guidelinesApplicants must download the prescribed form from the Employment News issue dated May 2–8, 2026, and fill it in English or Hindi using block letters. Self-attested copies of documents such as educational certificates, date of birth proof, caste certificate, and driving licence must be enclosed.Candidates are required to affix a recent photograph and send the application in an envelope clearly mentioning the post and category. Applications must reach the designated Air Officer Commanding or Station Commander within the stipulated timeframe.Selection process and pay scaleThe selection process consists of a written examination carrying full weightage, followed by qualifying skill or practical tests. LDC and Hindi Typist candidates will undergo typing tests, while driver applicants will face a driving assessment.All selected candidates will be placed under Level-2 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, with salaries ranging from Rs 19,900 to Rs 63,200.
