Why are foxes visiting houses in the UK?

Foxes are frequently spotted at UK front doors mainly because urban areas offer easy food and safety. Videos show them sniffing pots or peeing on frames early morning, marking territory, or hunting scraps. With habitats shrinking, due to the encroachment of the forest cover, they have begun wandering the urban areas and adapted well to cities, traveling more during mating season

Keep your bins and food sources packed

Start by locking down food attractants; foxes raid bins like pros, spilling rubbish everywhere. Use tight lids and sealed bags; store bins in enclosed spots if possible. Never leave pet food or water bowls out overnight, as they are no less than a free buffet. Pick up fallen fruit from trees instantly, since foxes love sweets like apples.

Use natural scent deterrents

Foxes hate strong smells, so citrus sprays work wonders on doorsteps. Boil lemon peels in water, strain, add vinegar or citronella, then spray door bases, frames, and pots every 3-4 days and reapply after rain for a lasting effect. Vinegar, garlic, or ammonia near their paths kepe them away without harm.

Block access and keep your space clean

Prevent dens under sheds or decks with buried chicken wire or steel mesh, at least a foot deep. Fix fence gaps, add anti-climb spikes, and bury mesh outward to so they do not dig.Apart from that, keep your garden clean, trim the grass, clear wood piles, and cut down shrubs, so there are no hiding spots. Close garage doors, limit windows to 4 inches, especially at night. Prickly plants around boundaries keep them away naturally.

Use some special devices

For stubborn foxes, motion-activated gadgets work the best. Ultrasonic devices emit fox-unfriendly sounds (inaudible to us), but check them before using if you have pets for their safety. Sprinklers or lights startle help dter them.If issues persist, contact pest control or wildlife rescuers; never poison or trap, as it’s illegal.
