Haute food, fast food

France is famous for fancy food and beautiful restaurants. But something surprising is happening there. In places like Paris, the most popular food spots right now are not expensive restaurants—they are fast food places! People are lining up to buy simple meals like chicken and rice. Many young people (Gen Z) prefer quick, easy, and trendy food over slow, fancy dining.

In fact, more than half of the money restaurants make in France now comes from fast food. This shocks people who believe food should always be traditional and fancy.

But this change isn’t new or strange. Around the world—from Japan to Peru—fancy food and fast food exist side by side. As life became busier, people had less time to cook and eat, so fast food became popular. And that’s okay.

India is a great example. Here, royal dishes and street food live happily together. A dish like shahi tukda started in royal kitchens but is now also sold on the streets. biryani has roots in royal cooking too. At the same time, simple foods like vada pav are just as loved as special dishes like ker sangri.

Fast food and fancy food don’t have to fight. Fancy food is often healthier and more carefully made. Fast food is quick and convenient. Both have their place in our lives.

So instead of arguing about which is better, we can enjoy both. After all, good food comes in many forms! 🍽
