The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian mythological object. Based on the legend of Horus, the falcon-headed sky god who battles his uncle Set to avenge his father Osiris. Horus was wounded in the battle and lost an eye, but the god of wisdom, Thoth, put it back. The restoration was a symbol of healing, renewal and divine providence. The ancient Egyptians carved the eye of Horus on tombs, wore it as an amulet and used it in rituals to ward off negative forces and ensure safety in life and the afterlife.
