Engineering aspirant dies by suicide
In a heartbreaking incident, 17-year-old Saurabh Kumar, a determined engineering hopeful from Patna, took his own life on Tuesday in his hostel room. As he prepared for the JEE exam, he became burdened by academic pressures. A poignant note discovered by his cousins revealed his struggles and a plea for his parents to sell their land for his sister’s future.

Patna: An engineering aspirant died by suicide by hanging himself in a hostel room at Salimpur Aahar under Gandhi Maidan police station area in Patna on Tuesday. The deceased, Saurabh Kumar, 17, was the son of Mahesh Yadav, a resident of Beldari Bigha village in Gaya district.He was preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) while staying in Patna with his two cousins. The three had rented two rooms in the hostel — one for studying and the other for sleeping.According to police, the incident came to light when the cousins returned from their coaching classes and found Saurabh unresponsive. They peeped into the room and discovered him hanging from a noose, following which they informed the police.Gandhi Maidan SHO Akhilesh Mishra said Saurabh was a student at a coaching institute. “He did not attend classes on Tuesday. A suicide note has been found from his room. We received the information at 8.26pm,” he said.The handwritten note, addressed to his parents, read, “Mom and dad, please forgive me. Even after studying day and night, I could not understand. I was very upset by this. You two will have no support in your old age. What could I do? I was also troubled. My last wish is that you sell your land and get my sister married into a good family. Please forgive me if possible. I have committed suicide. Yours truly, Saurabh.”
