Doja Cat on addressing trolls online: 'I feel like I have to defend my creative choices'
Doja Cat has opened up about her ongoing battle with online trolls, revealing she feels compelled to defend her creative decisions when faced with hate. The artist admitted that while she knows these critics might not be significant, the feeling of being threatened, even if imagined, prompts her to respond. She remains uncertain if this will change in the future.

Doja Cat has been at the centre of attention time and again, for her continued battle with online trolls. In a recent interview, the artist opened up about how and why she feels the need to do so.

While sitting down for an interview with Vogue, the star revealed that she often feels the need to defend herself against the onslaught of hate comments whenever she comes across them. “When I feel that I’m threatened, even though it may not be a threat at all, it rhymes with: You are failing,” she said.The singer further shared, “I feel like I have to defend my creative choices, and then I give those people power even though they could be anybody – they could have Cheeto dust on their fingers and have no job.”When she was asked whether this is something that she may stop doing in the future, the ‘Woman’ singer replied, “Who knows?”Doja Cat, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, often holds live streams on various platforms online. Many times, the singer has gone viral for hitting back at trolls, leaving behind nasty comments, or hateful posts.On the work front, the singer released her fifth full-length studio album last year titled ‘Vie.’ This was her first album release since 2023’s ‘Scarlet.’
