'Mumma, please come back': Ranbir Kapoor urged Neetu Kapoor to return amid India-Pakistan conflict

What was meant to be a simple outdoor schedule in Shimla gradually turned into a deeply memorable chapter for the cast of ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’. Instead of the usual hustle of film sets, the team found themselves living in close quarters, sharing spaces and time in a way that felt unusually personal. This calm routine was briefly shaken when news of the India-Pakistan conflict during Operation Sindoor in May 2025 reached them, bringing a sense of unease even within the quiet hills.Recalling those days, Kapil Sharma revealed how much Neetu Kapoor cherished the experience. He shared with SCREEN, “Neetu ma’am said that after the film ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, she had this much fun during a shoot.” Agreeing with him, Neetu added, “That’s true. We had so much fun during the shoot. These days, everyone stays inside their vanity vans, but there were no vanity vans there.”

Kapil further explained how the simplicity of the arrangement became its biggest strength, saying, “There wasn’t even enough space there for vanity vans, and we weren’t staying in hotels either. We stayed in cottages nearby and genuinely had a great time together.” What could have been seen as a limitation instead turned into the highlight of the schedule, helping everyone connect beyond their roles.

Ranbir Kapoor‘s worried call to Neetu Kapoor

However, the mood on set briefly shifted when news of the India-Pakistan conflict during Operation Sindoor in May 2025 began to unfold. Talking about that moment, Kapil recalled, “So many things happened during the making of this film. The war had started, and the situation had become very serious at that time. I think Ranbir had called you.”Neetu Kapoor then shared how her son, Ranbir Kapoor, reacted with concern. She said, “Yes, Ranbir called me and said, ‘Mumma, please come back.’ But I told him, ‘This is the safest place right now, nobody is going to drop bombs here.’” Her response reflected both reassurance and the calm the team tried to maintain despite the uncertainty outside.Interestingly, the tension did not disrupt the shoot. Instead, it strengthened the team’s resolve to stay together and complete the project. Neetu revealed, “When the war started, nobody said anything. Everyone said we will continue working. Everybody was so excited about the film and everything around it. Nobody wanted to leave.”

Riddhima Kapoor on her acting debut

For Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who is making her acting debut with the film, the experience was especially emotional. Speaking about the atmosphere on set, she shared, “The film has been made with so much love that nobody wanted to leave midway and go back.”Opening up further about her debut, Riddhima said, “It truly feels surreal and deeply emotional. There’s a sense of everything coming full circle. I know my father is always with me blessing me in anything and everything that I choose to do.” She also acknowledged the challenges of starting fresh, adding, “The biggest challenge was stepping into an entirely new world at this stage of life. There’s a certain vulnerability in starting fresh, but also a lot of excitement at the same time.”
