'Cooperate, turn over all illegal aliens': Trump's targets governor Walz amid immigration crackdown
US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump on Monday warned “every” Democratic governor and mayor to cooperate with his administration on immigration enforcement, blaming former president Joe Biden for what he called a surge in illegal immigration and rising violence. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “During the four years of Crooked Joe Biden and Democrat failed leadership, tens of millions of illegal alien criminals poured into our country,” claiming that the influx included “convicted murderers, rapists, kidnappers, drug dealers, and terrorists.”Trump directly named Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, calling on them to work with federal authorities. He said state and local governments must help in the “immediate deportation” of “criminal illegal aliens.”“That is why I am hereby calling on Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, and every Democrat Governor and Mayor in the United States of America to formally cooperate with the Trump Administration to enforce our Nation’s Laws,” Trump wrote.Listing his demands, Trump said state prisons and jails should turn over illegal immigrants with criminal records to federal authorities. He also said local police must hand over illegal immigrants they arrest and assist federal agencies in apprehending those wanted for crimes.Referring to a recent incident in Minneapolis in which two American citizens were killed, Trump called it a “tragic” event and blamed what he described as “Democrat chaos” for the violence.Trump also attacked so-called “sanctuary cities” run by Democrats, calling them “the root cause” of many problems. “American cities should be safe sanctuaries for law-abiding American citizens only, not illegal alien criminals,” he wrote, urging Congress to pass legislation to end sanctuary city policies.Meanwhile, the Minneapolis case saw further political fallout. Democratic National Committee chair Ken Martin accused US Attorney General Pam Bondi of trying to pressure Minnesota officials. According to The Washington Post, Martin said Bondi sent a letter seeking access to state voter rolls shortly after the killing of Alex Pretti, who was shot by a Border Patrol agent. The remarks and allegations have intensified the political debate in the US over immigration enforcement and public safety.
