KHARAGPUR: Former Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has threatened to unleash bulldozers to evict encroachers — similar to tactics used in UP — if his party wins in the Bengal polls. “From railway land to khas property (land in direct possession of govt), from jungle areas to roadside strips — everything has been encroached upon in Bengal. Then there are areas where infiltrators have forcibly constructed houses,” said Ghosh, BJP’s Kharagpur nominee. Known for making controversial remarks, Ghosh faced criticism over his latest bulldozer threat as he claimed TMC would not just be voted out of office but sent into “oblivion”. “I have never left Kharagpur. I have been here for past eight years. Kharagpur knows me and my track record,” said Ghosh, a former MP and MLA and the man who led BJP to its first major success in Bengal in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
