BENGALURU: Department of school education and literacy Wednesday said schools in Karnataka would function normally Thursday and would not be affected by Bharat bandh called by labour and trade unions against policies of Union govt. “District commissioners are also allowed to take decisions (in case of untoward incidents),” said Vikas Kishor Suralkar, commissioner for school education. But, the protest is backed by mid-day meal workers. District officials have been told to convince them to not join protest. If they do join protests, then schools “must make alternative arrangements”, read a note by PM Poshan Shakti Nirman Project. Karnataka has 1.2 lakh school kitchen workers.
