Yamaha EC-06 e-scooter launched in India: Price, range & more

Yamaha has made its long-awaited entry into India’s competitive electric scooter space with the launch of the EC-06, its first electric two-wheeler for the market. The model has been priced at Rs 1.67 lakh, ex-showroom, and will be available in select cities through Yamaha’s dealership network. For now, the EC-06 is offered in a single colour option, Bluish White. Here is a closer look at what this electric scooter brings to the table.

The model is based on the same platform as the River Indie but has distinctive design elements. It gets a raked, muscular front apron featuring a horizontally-stacked LED headlamp setup. On the sides, it features angular body panels and a modern look overall. As opposed to the River Indie, this model features a significantly smaller 24.5-litre under-seat storage capacity.

Powering the EC-06 housed a fixed 4 kWh battery pack. This model is paired to an electric motor with power outputs rated at 8.9 bhp and 26 Nm of torque. Yamaha claims a top speed of 79 kmph, while the scooter offers a certified riding range of 169 km on a single charge. The battery comes with a warranty of three years or 30,000 km.As for charging, it can be plugged into a regular household power socket. A full charge takes around eight hours. On the features front, the Yamaha EC-06 gets three riding modes: Eco, Standard and Power. There is also a reverse mode. The scooter is equipped with an LCD instrument cluster that displays key information such as speed, battery level, riding modes and connectivity details. This cluster also offers smartphone connectivity through Yamaha’s mobile application.Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking hardware includes 200 mm disc brakes at both the front and rear, supported by a Combi Brake System (CBS).
