Indian Army begins TES-56 recruitment for Lieutenant posts through 10+2 technical entry route

Indian Army TES-56 Recruitment 2026: The Indian Army has released the notification for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES)-56 course scheduled to commence from January 2027. The recruitment drive offers entry to eligible candidates seeking permanent commission in the Army as officers through the 10+2 technical entry route. Online applications have opened on the official website, joinindianarmy.nic.in.Candidates who have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and appeared for JEE Main 2026 are eligible to apply for the TES-56 course. According to the notification, the application process started on May 13, 2026, and will continue till June 12, 2026. Selected candidates will undergo four years of training before commissioning as Lieutenants.Eligibility criteria and vacanciesThe recruitment drive is being conducted for 90 vacancies for the post of Lieutenant under the TES-56 course. Applicants must have secured at least 60 per cent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12 and should have appeared for JEE Main 2026.The age limit for candidates is between 16.5 years and 19.5 years. Applicants should not be born before July 1, 2007, and not after July 1, 2010, with both dates included. The age calculation cutoff date is January 1, 2027.Selection process and training structureThe selection process will begin with shortlisting of applications based on JEE Main rank. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Services Selection Board interview, which will be conducted over five days. Candidates clearing the interview stage will undergo a medical examination before the final merit list is prepared.The training programme will continue for four years. During the first three years, selected candidates will undergo training at Cadet Training Wings. The final year of training will take place at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. Candidates completing the programme successfully will receive an engineering degree and will be granted the rank of Lieutenant.Application process and stipend detailsThere is no application fee for candidates applying under the TES-56 recruitment process. Interested candidates can submit applications through the official Join Indian Army website by completing the officer entry application form online.During training, cadets will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 56,100 after completion of three years. After commissioning, officers will be placed in Level 10 pay scale as Lieutenants.
